The Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis Methods

The Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis Methods are complementary exercise methods. Both methods were developed by Juliu Horvath, an ethnic Hungarian and professional dancer from Romania.

Gyrotonic exercises are performed on custom-designed Gyrotonic equipment, whereas Gyrokinesis exercises are performed on a mat and chair. Both Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis exercise sequences are composed of spiraling, circular movements which flow together seamlessly in rhythmic repetitions with corresponding breathing patterns.

Each movement flows into the next, allowing the joints to move through a natural range of motion without jarring or compression. These carefully crafted sequences create balance, agility, strength and flexibility.

A global community of over 15,000 Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis Trainers teach classes in 80+ countries.

We are a designated Gyrotonic® studio offering an exclusive setting in which to receive personalized movement therapy based sessions.

These private and semi-private sessions are performed on the custom designed Gyrotonic Combination Tower Unit and specialized equipment.

The Gyrokinesis® Method is offered in small group classes to ensure all participants receive personalized attention and instruction.

Owner

Stephanie began her career as a yoga teacher in 1997.

Over the next seven years, Stephanie taught a variety of yoga to people in all stages and conditions of their lives. She holds a 200 hour level certification through the National Association of Certified Yoga Teachers. She considers her crowning achievement in the field of yoga to be her studies with Master teacher, Erich Schiffmann.

In 2004, Stephanie became certified to teach Pilates under Master teacher Jill Cassady of the Pilates Technique program, and transitioned her practice to teaching private sessions within a medical setting, working with chiropractors, physical therapists, acupuncturists and medical massage therapists. This work carried her through fifteen years.

In 2014, Stephanie began her training in the Gyrotonic Expansion System and Gyrokinesis Method's spinal movements. By 2015, she became a certified teacher of the Gyrotonic Method. In 2022, she completed her final certification in the Gyrokinesis Method.

Since her introduction to the Gyrotonic Expansion System her studies have been on-going. Over the last decade, Stephanie has delved deeper into the applications of the fascial body, she has integrated the higher levels of repertoire with specialized equipment, and has incorporated pre and post natal applications into her private practice.

It is with great joy that Stephanie continues to impart her knowledge at GYROTONIC® DURANGO.
